It is not often I write articles here, it is the usual blog post of a wedding or engagement shoot but I have felt it wise to show you the wonders of an amazing series of places in the Cumbrian country. Having photographed many weddings in windermere and the lakes as a wedding photographer in The Lake District, over the last few years I have developed a particular fondness for the wild environment and stunning views. I was recently hired to photograph my first wedding elopement of another fellow wedding photographer, this of course was an incredible honour.
Sam and Aden’s elopement in a special place in the Lake District was something I could not wait to be a part of. Not only was I to be entrusted with such an undertaking but I also got to show the amazing places that are a true inspiration to me as a photographer. From the beautiful lakes of Windermere to the wildness of the trees and rural landscapes in Derwent water to some truly spectacular vistas.
The Lake District is the perfect place for moody, dramatic fine art wedding photography that I love to produce, with views that rival any picturesque setting you can imagine. This location you see in these images are special to me because it is also where I hope to marry my fiancé in the very near future, featuring a rustic/outdoor theme and the mountains of Cumbria and the mountains, rivers and trees providing the backdrop.
The Lakes really appeals to those of an adventurous nature, couples that love the challenge of braving the weather to make amazing art and to savour in the thrill of being somewhere that most others won’t even know exists. The natural environment of the Lake District really lends itself to the way I work as a fine art photographer, photographing naturally too which makes sure you are able to savour the experience of the location without feeling like you are on a photoshoot.
As both a fine art wedding photographer and as an artist the Lake District really appeals to me on both these levels as it has a real sense of a destination wedding vibe whilst being totally at home in the UK. The cumbrian country looks as though you were in some dramatic, romantic locale somewhere in Glencoe, Scotland or in winter perhaps somewhere in Iceland.
