Being an award winning Lake District Wedding Photographer it is a real honour to be able to capture a couples wedding here. It is a place I love to get back to time and time again and one you will adore as a wedding location with its incredible mountain views, forests, feels and the waters of the lakes themselves. It is the wedding location you have always dreamed of. Here are 5 reasons to consider getting married in the Lake District.
Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
When you arrive in the Lake District you feel as though you have entered another world. I always feel as though I am on holiday when I arrive. A feeling of excitement and wonder of the location and also of relaxation and happiness. This is what the Lakes can do! The Lake District is the largest of Britain’s national parks. It is home to Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. It’s easy to see why they chose such a stunning place to rest.
Stunning Wedding Venues
No matter what you are looking for in a venue, the Lakes has you covered. Country manors, stately homes and even lakeside mansions. You can even hop in a row boat and explore windermere together or even with guests on an old fashioned steamer boat on a wonderful tour. Venues in this national park are rich with history and really need to be seen to be believed, a place wonderful and breathtaking.
An Incredible Place to Elope
I have photographed many elopements in the Lake District. It’s easy to see why couples choose it for their elopement getaway. It is simply just stunning. From mountain elopements, and lakeside hand fasting ceremonies to historical country estates, the lake is perfect as an elopement location. There are many places hidden from sight. Places even the locals don’t know. I have made it my mission to find these secret and incredible places which I share with couples looking to elope. Locations like the Hidden River Cabins and also The Gilpin Lake House are another stunning example of places that are unique in their look.
Amazing Wedding Photographs!
I just love being a Lake District Wedding Photographer. Places like Yew Tree Farm, which was owned by Beatrix Potter are places to get incredible wedding photographs, see more of my recommendations of wedding venues and locations in my comprehensive Best Wedding Venues guide here. The truth is anywhere you choose to hold your wedding in the Lake District is a good choice. It has some amazing places within easy reach.
An Amazing Honeymoon
The Lake District is a beautiful place, you can see why people visit. There are spas, hotels, cottages and even wooden log cabins! There is a strong outdoor climbing culture and walks that offer both a challenge but also some that are great for any level of walker.
You can visit Ambleside and the incredible shops, historical centres and museums like the Beatrix Potter and Wordsworth museums and much much more. My favourite place to eat is the amazing Chesters by the River, you need to check that out if you visit, a place you can enjoy great food next to a rushing waterfall and river… just magic!
