If you say “I do” at The Gilpin Lake House you’ll get exclusive use of the incredible Lake House, the four-acre lake it’s set on, and 100 acres of magnificent private grounds.

Inside the idyllic Lake House you’ll find a sweeping staircase, floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the lake and woodland, and roaring log fires that will keep everyone toasty if you tie the knot in winter.

During your two-night stay at the Gilpin Lake House, you and your guests will be able to pamper yourselves in the indoor and outdoor saunas, two outdoor hot tubs, and a heated indoor pool that looks out onto the four-acre lake.

What’s more, the staff are seriously amazing here – your wish is their command!

Your big day is bound to be idyllic at The Gilpin Lake House, especially as its wedding packages give you use of the incredible on-site spa facilities to ensure it’s a seriously special occasion.

If you’re after a fun and relaxed wedding venue in the Lake District, look no further than Hidden River Barn.

This new wedding venue from the people behind the incredible Hidden River Cabins is nestled away in the Cumbrian countryside on its own private estate.

The barn itself has a picturesque rustic aesthetic with a modern twist. It features floor-to-ceiling windows that let in plenty of natural light, a mezzanine floor, and (most important of all!) a fully-stocked bar. It’s also fitted out with air conditioning and two roaring log fires, ensuring it will always be the perfect temperature.

The barn is surrounded by ancient woodland and miles of private riverbank that make for some incredible photos of your big day.

On a sunny day, your guests can spill out and enjoy the idyllic surroundings, making this a great venue for a summer wedding. The woods get covered in carpets of bluebells earlier in the year, making this a fantastic choice for a spring wedding too.

Silverholme Manor is the perfect choice if you’re looking for a unique and quirky venue for your Lake District wedding.

Set right on Windermere with unparalleled panoramas of the famous lake, it has some of the best views in the entire Lakes. Plus, it has private access to the lake, meaning you and your guests can even head for a dip if the feeling takes you.

On top of all this, you get exclusive use of the stunning five-star Georgian manor house from Friday afternoon all the way through to Monday morning, meaning there’s no need for you and your wedding party to have to drag yourselves out of bed on the Sunday morning when you’re bound to all be a bit worse for wear.

The rooms themselves are incredible as well, with a unique country vibe.

One thing guests of Silverholme Manor weddings always love as well is the fact there’s so much room on the lawns surrounding the manor for games, including wedding day archery (although you might want to put that away when the drinks really start flowing!).

Yew Tree Farm

For a completely unique Lake District wedding, you can tie the knot at Yew Tree Farm – Beatrix Potter’s old cottage and farm.

It really doesn’t get more “Lake District” than Yew Tree Farm, which combines rustic appeal with stunning surroundings.

Your ceremony will be held in the traditional 17th century barn, and then festivities will move to the historic farmhouse that was once owned by one of Britain’s most beloved children’s authors.

Get married here and it really will be a truly unforgettable day – especially for Beatrix Potter fans.

Storrs Hall is an elegant Grade II-listed Georgian Mansion that sits within 17 acres of incredible grounds right on the shoreline of Lake Windermere.

It’s one of the most picturesque wedding venues I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing – you’ll get particularly good photos on the beautiful period staircase and surrounded by the amazing artwork every room is jam-packed with.

The beautifully landscaped grounds are absolutely flawless, and there are incredible views everywhere you look (which makes for incredible photos of your big day).

The food at Storrs Hall is amazing as well, which your guests are all bound to appreciate.

Plus, you can start your honeymoon at Storrs Hall’s gorgeous boathouse, which sits in its own private grounds and has its own hot tub and fire pit.

Cragwood Country House is another incredible exclusive-use wedding venue nestled on the shoes of Lake Windermere.

The house itself is an elegant grand Edwardian country house that’s the perfect choice if you’re looking for a more traditional setting for your big day. What’s more, it sits in 20-acres of gorgeous grounds that are sure to take your guests’ breath away.

Whenever I’ve shot weddings at Cragwood, guests always love the champagne cruise around Lake Windermere – you and your wedding party are picked up at a private jetty and then take in the breath-taking scenery while enjoying chilled champagne.

You don’t just have to take my word that this is an incredible venue, either: Cragwood Country House was voted Wedding Venue of the Year 2019 by Cumbria Tourism and was a regional finalist at The Wedding Industry Awards in 2020, 2019 and 2018.

So, there you have it: my pick of the top wedding venues in the Lake District. If you’re thinking of tying the knot in this beautiful corner of the world, you’re bound to have an incredible day if you go with any of these venues.

It’s hard to pick the highlight of Langdale Chase: the sweeping staircase, the spellbinding views onto Lake Windermere, or the spectacular grounds.

One thing is for sure: the food is some of the most incredible in the entire Lake District. You and your guests are sure to have an incredible dining experience if you get married here, meaning the foodies in your party are bound to be happy.

As one of the Lakes’ premier hotels, it’s no surprise that the guest bedrooms are another big highlight at Langdale Chase. The Boathouse Bedroom that newlyweds share is a particularly incredible room with breathtaking views.

And despite specialising in intimate ceremonies, there are actually five different places you can get married at Cote How, from the house itself to outside on the manicured lawns that were landscaped in the 1800s.

The River Rothay runs through the estate and there’s breathtaking views in every direction, meaning you’re sure to end up with spectacular photographs to remember your day by.

Caroline and Steve, Cote How’s owners, really go the extra mile to make sure your wedding day is completely seamless as well – no matter how many hiccups there are along the way.
