And on Josie and Ben’s wedding day, the estate looked like it had been waiting all year just to celebrate them.

Before the suits, ties, and polished shoes came out, Ben and his groomsmen decided to lean all the way into the Kinmount experience. With the sun already warming the grounds, the guys headed straight for Kinmount House’s beautiful lake, tucked just beyond the rolling lawns. Their morning swim set the tone for the entire day—joyful, carefree, and full of genuine moments that you can’t stage. From the water splashing in the golden light to the laughter echoing across the estate, it was the perfect, unfiltered start to a Scottish summer wedding. As a photographer, those candid, pre-ceremony moments are absolute gold.

The ceremony space at Kinmount House, framed by views of the gardens and the estate’s endless greenery, made the perfect backdrop for Josie and Ben’s vows. The summer light filtered through the trees, soft and warm, adding this beautiful glow to everything it touched.

And the emotion didn’t let up. From the way Josie walked toward him to the way Ben held her hands like he never wanted to let go, the whole room felt it. These two weren’t just excited—they were overjoyed.

Exploring the Kinmount Grounds; One of the biggest reasons I love photographing weddings at Kinmount House is the sheer variety of landscapes in one place. You’ve got the grand architecture (hello, statement portraits), the serene lake, wildflowers in summer, woodland paths, elegant terraces, and those long vistas that stretch right into the Dumfries countryside. After the ceremony, we wandered through the grounds for portraits—just the three of us—letting them breathe in everything that was happening.

As the sun dropped lower, the whole wedding settled into that golden Scottish summer glow. Guests gathered on the terrace, drinks in hand, the air full of music and stories. Inside, the reception space was elegant and warm, the perfect place for the emotional speeches that had everyone laughing and tearing up in equal measure.

By the time the dancing began, the energy was electric. Josie and Ben didn’t leave each other’s side. You could still see that same emotion in Ben’s eyes—still overwhelmed, still completely in the moment—just wrapped in even more joy.
