LAKE DISTRICT WEDDING VENUES
The Hidden River Cabins
One incredible place for a wedding the Lake District is the Hidden River Cabins, here is a spring wedding I photographed there. Located just north of Carlisle the cabins are s a place that is sistered with the log cabins at Eagle Brae in the Scottish highlands, you can view that wedding story here. It is amazing for that rustic, outdoor feel for a wedding venue as the cabins can all be hired for your guests to then stay in. Each cabin has its own hot tub and incredible views! A real gem of a wedding location hidden away in the Lake Districts great outdoors.
Silverholme Manor, Graythwaite
Over a near decade timeframe i have been fortunate enough to have photographed weddings and elopements at the most beautiful locations in the Lake District. I first photographed at the amazing Silverholme Manor in Graythwaite many years ago when it first opened to the public as a wedding venue, a great honour. I have photographed a number of weddings there one of which you can see here. Just a short trip down the road from Silverholme are Graythwaite cottages, situated among the trees in a stunning location. A little further on and you can have a lake cruise on Windermere with your wedding guests, enjoying canopes whilst enjoying the scenery.
The Haweswater Hotel, Haweswater
The Haweswater Hotel in Haweswater is another incredible place for a wedding of any size or elopement too. It has stunning views all around and is close to nearby places of natural beauty that are well within walking distance. I photographed a wedding at the Haweswater with two wonderful guys last autumn, you can see their day here.
Yew Tree Farm, Beatrix Potters Farm Cottage
Hawskhead, along with its nearby Tarn Hows for some more epic looking landscape and mountains with the nearby Beatrix Potter exhibition in the main town, I was very fortunate to photograph an exclusive wedding at Beatrix Potters cottage at Yew tree Farm which is not normally allowed to be used a wedding venue, a very special honour indeed.
Blea Tarn and The Samling Hotel
Just skirting windermere is the Samling Hotel, which saw the unforgettable wedding of my good friend Aden and Sam. They chose to be married on the Saturday the day before and then the following day was one to explore and get some incredible portraits of them together in the natural environment at Blea Tarn. Since then i have visited the incredible Langdale valley especially at the most stunning place to see mountains and offsets in a place called Blea Tarn. On the way to the Tarn is the incredible Chesters by the River literally my favourite location for exquisite food and drink with stunning views as you dine next to a waterfall and river. See some amazing images from Blea Tarn I have captured here.
Loughrigg Cottage, Ambleside
For a smaller, more intimate wedding there is Loughrigg cottage in Ambleside, an elopement I did there last spring was wonderful! This was a smaller wedding but would also be amazing for an elopement as well. The cottage in Ambleside is situated right next to a beautiful stream and grass farmland with free roaming sheep and even a few mountains in the distance. Great for a little adventurous post ceremony wedding portrait session!
Wasdale Head Inn
The Wasdale Head Inn is another wonderful wedding venue in the Lake District, here is a stunning summer Wasdale Head Inn Lake District Wedding that was an incredible day with friends and family. The hotel has been used by travellers for over 200 years and it is a stunning base camp for any kind of adventure, but for weddings it’s really special. It offers stunning views of mountains and trails that really stir the soul! One of my favourite venues in the Lake District for sure!
LAKE DISTRICT ELOPEMENT VENUES
The Gilpin Lake House Hotel
I photographed a stunning elopement at The Gilpin Lake House Hotel which is amazing for an elopement as it has it’s private lake complete with jetty and rowing boats! amazing for you and your guests to have a nice row together! The Gilpin also has some wonderful grounds with many places to explore, a forest and wild animals can roam around also. It’s a stunning place indeed!
The Langdale Chase Hotel
An amazing elopement venue is also at the Langdale Chase Hotel, stunning views across Lake Windermere and beyond. I captured one here and then on to Blea Tarn here. The Langdale Chase is situation right on Lake Windermere, meaning you can get epic views jut by stepping outside and walking it’s generous and beautiful grounds.
ALTERNATIVE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER IN THE LAKE DISTRICT
I create alternative, cinematic wedding photography in the Lake District and it’s surrounding areas. I am highly creative when it comes to my approach to wedding photography in the Lake District by focusing on the emotion that you bring to your wedding day. I also use inspiration from film into my work, to give a cinema like feel to my photography, focusing on the natural environment and making you the stars of your wedding! Alternative photography can mean many things but for my style focuses on those couples that want something a little more from their wedding photography, something more dramatic, beautiful and emotive.
