What a superb year to be a natural wedding photographer, I have visited more incredible natural locations than ever before and met even more amazing people. I have now been a part of weddings in Croatia (near where Game of Thrones is set… and Star Wars!), incredible tipi hand fasting weddings in the Lake District and South Wales as well as a wedding atop Wengen, Switzlerand.
Here are the just some of the adventures and locations I was so happy to be a part of this year; I started the year off with an Indian-English wedding mashup with Kiran and Mark at the Great Hall at Mains, in Yorkshire then on to Yorkshire again at West Carlton Country Guest house with Kat and Stuart for a vintage themed, possibly slightly hipster-eque, outdoor-tipi wedding! As the season kicked into gear I was again to visit one of my favourite locations in the world; The Lake District for a wedding at the Graythwaite Cottages in Ulverstone, Cumbria with Jonathan and Claire, they had very intimate, romantic ceremony with just a few family and friends, which was beautiful in the natural surroundings of the lakes.
Also in the Lake District was the very natural, relaxed weddings with Claire & Andrew which also at the Graythwaite location this time though at Silverholme Manor, one of my favourite locations for a wedding in the Lake District. The very next week, back in the Lakes for Helen and Matts wedding which was very special indeed. Starting at Belmont Hall in Hawkshead where they had their family and friends fly in from as far as Mongolia (some were natural Mongolian hunters in the mountains…amazing) and then we all took a river trip lake cruise on Coniston water. Epic, right? well it doesn’t end there! The final part of the day was at a very famous landmark, namely Beatrix Potters cottage at Yew Tree Farm, not typically used for weddings but one that was utterly stunning for one!
I saw a good deal of Wales as well this year, Cat & Dave had a superb wedding at Nevadd Dyfi in Gwynedd, which was an old 50’s converted cinema and on to the Roman Lakes in Marple a stunning vintage location for a wedding. Hana & Anders had an incredible country wedding at Dewsall Court in Hereford, the groom, Anders, flew a lot of his family in from Sweeden, what a guy! I also found myself in Devon this year, a first for me! at the famous Tunnels Beaches in Illfracomb for Amy & Murray’s summer beach-themed wedding, it truly felt like a destination wedding! Then with Noelle & Bobby (awesome wedding videographers in their own right) on the Isle of Anglesey at Carvreglwyd Estate for a rainy but wonderful day and a following return to Peterstone Court and then on to the Barn at Brynich once again this year.
Then with the wedding season nearly complete I found myself in the glorious mountains of Switzerland atop the famous Berghaus Maennlichen in Wengen, for the incredible wedding of Claire and Hamish, one of the most memorable weddings was one (at the also very famous) Roche Abbey in Maltby South Yorkshire, an exquisite English Heritage ruins with an incredible backdrop… full blog on that coming soon. I could go on and on about the amazing places I’ve been but for now, here in visual form are is my 2016 highlight images.
