Ending the year with Rebecca and Victor in the Lake District felt like the perfect full stop to December. Just a few days after their wedding, they headed straight for the mountains and chose to celebrate in a way that felt completely them — no traditional wedding-day photography, no timelines, no pressure. Instead, they wanted honest, beautiful portraits of the two of them, fully present and enjoying the experience together. Photographing couples like this is always special, but there was something about the quiet of the Lake District in winter that made it even more meaningful.
Post wedding photoshoot
We spent the shoot exploring the landscape, walking, laughing, taking things slowly and letting the environment guide us. Rebecca and Victor were totally at ease from the start, which allowed the session to feel relaxed and natural rather than posed or forced. My approach is always cinematic and unobtrusive, giving couples space to move, connect and just be themselves — and they embraced that fully. The mountains, the soft December light, and their energy together created something effortlessly real.
cinematic and emotive portraits
This kind of post-wedding couples shoot is such a great alternative for those who don’t want a photographer on their wedding day but still want incredible images to remember this chapter of their lives. The Lake District is ideal for it too — dramatic, peaceful, and endlessly inspiring. Finishing the year with a fun, meaningful shoot like this reminded me exactly why I love documenting couples in places that allow them to slow down, explore, and enjoy each other without distractions.
